As the title shows I need help....BAD!!
My problem is I can't sleep and before someone says take a sleeping pill I refuse to take them.

So to explain my situation and for those that know me they know how blunt and honest I can be (sometimes rude :P I will admit that). So to those who don't LOL enjoy reading this.

Here is my deal I have not been able to sleep and what little sleep I have managed is restless and not that real good deep sleep that we all need. All my usual tricks for being able to relax and basically turn my brain off so I can sleep are not working.

I am a college student however I take my classes online and am ahead, yes I said ahead, in most of my school work and what I am not ahead in is easy work that takes tops 30 minutes to do if I am talking to people. (which is almost constant :P) The only thing I can think of is that other things and people are making me lose sleep or I am just finally going bonkers!

I mean I have a great group of friends both on and offline, but there are a few, though wonderful, are starting to drive me bonkers. I mean I love them and all but GEEZ stop making me worry so much LOL (I don't think that is going to change thou since I am to much of a mother hen to most of them.)

I have a wonderful guy in my life, even though we have hit a rough patch that is making me want to throttle us both over the stupidity of it all.

I am having a blast trying to make my little section of AU that I am in charge of better than it was before. (And before someone says anything I will be posting the next contest later today)

I am taking on a new writing project that I hope works out. (I am not saying anymore on that subject yet since it is an experiment.)

So yes while I have allot on my plate it is no more or less than anyone else has going on in their lives, but I still am having trouble sleeping. So if anyone has ideas please PLEASE let me know before I surpass my normal craziness and into insanity.

My normal methods are to put on classical music and slowly relax my body starting at my toes working my way up my legs, but by the time I usually start to relax my knees I am asleep. Caffeine is not the issue either since it usually puts me to sleep. ( I can drink a pot of coffee before bed and still fall asleep in 10-15 minutes) Oh and like I said at the start I refuse to take pills to sleep. So if you tell me this I will ignore you.

Honestly, I have no idea how to help you.

But I always find myself falling asleep when I'm curled up in a ball, even if wide awake.

Or even if I listen to calming music, I sometimes nod off.

I'd suggest some other ways to try and fall asleep though, cuz not every way is guaranteed to work. And in your case, it has a high chance of not working.

    You have to get tired.

What I do is work out. And work out hard. If you have done lots of physical things during the day, by the evening you are very tired and sleep comes easier.

    Worth trying at least.

Well since you already work out you could have a short jog like an hour before you go to sleep that way it tires you out a little right before you go to bed.

Also don't read in bed or shortly before, that's bad. I just clear my mind and try not to think of anything and it works for me, I can get to sleep in any situation like that.

Drink milk that always helps its like a natural sleeping drink. But since you don't like that try doin something that makes you lose track of time and you'll eventually just fall to sleep. Another note try not to be anxious and stay calm.

    Hey, this works!

    Sorry for the silly joke.
You might try to drink some chamomile or lavender tea. Meditation works for me too.

Try taking a warm bath an hour before you sleep. If nothing works and your daily routine starts getting affected, see your GP. There may be an underlying reason.
    Wish you well.

Go to youtube and watch whisper videos. it's nothing like a soft voice of someone doing role play or just anything. It's a whole community of people who make them videos. I even learned a bit a Russian from one of them, and i play a new video every night. I hardly am able to last 2mins through the videos. They have been my sleep medicine for the past 2 years or so.

Honestly, if you won't take pills, there aren't very many other real solutions. Try getting to bed much earlier, wake up earlier so your body gets used to a new routine. The objective is to make it so that u can't fall asleep on time but wake up earlier, thus depriving your body of even more sleep until it eventually succumbs to the new routine. You WILL be exhausted by this until your body gets in the habit of going to bed at a reasonable hour and waking up at a reasonable hour.

For reference, I have the same problem, my first class on mwf isn't until 12, so I usually stay up till 3-4 am and sleep till 11:30. Problem is, that screws me over on tues-thurs when I have an 8:30, so I'm working on fixing my sleeping habits, and this is one way I'm doing it. I needed sleeping pills at the beginning to help me ease into going to bed between 11:30 and 12, but I don't need them anymore lol.

What I do when I can't go to sleep and I want to change the times I want to go to sleep I stay up for a full 24 hours then go to sleep at the desired time I want to go to sleep and my body just registers the time I should get tired at.

Edit: KAP the whispering videos gave me the good kinda of goosebumps I get on my back I love that feeling thanks man.
